Clay Field
Children go through developmental stages at their own pace. When key stages are interrupted, this can manifest in behaviours that are disruptive, harmful, or avoidant. Work at the Clay Field can help provide children’s sensory systems with a way to find calm and repair. Other sensorimotor art making processes can be used instead of Clayfield if preferred or if your child has a sensory aversion to the texture of clay.
Clay Field Adults
It is often hard to process grief, trauma or other unexplained feelings or behaviours through words alone. Work at the Clay Field can help you work your way through this in a safe supportive environment. It uses the wisdom of your body to guide the way your hands will move in the clay. This unique interaction between body, hands and clay helps your central nervous system process your experience and find its way toward a sense of resolution, recovery and calm.
Training background
I have had extensive face to face training over three years in Clay Field therapy at the only training center of its kind in Australia. I have also been awarded my Masters degree in therapeutic arts practice from the MIECAT institute in Melbourne Victoria. It is important to me that I offer a service to others that encompasses rigour and accountability on a professional and personal level. Below are two presentations on very different forms of art therapy. The Clay Field video is sensorimotor based, the other example involves both sensory and cognitive processes including sounds, to come to an understanding of experience. I hope these help to demonstrate the diversity of arts based therapy and how it can be adapted to whatever is needed or arises.
